Kim received her BA in Biology from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. She went on to earn a BS in Art at The University of Wisconsin-Madison in Madison, Wisconsin. Her desire to become a medical illustrator lead her to Texas where she received her MA from the Biomedical Communications Program at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. Kim worked for six years in private industry working with surgeons, publishers and medical device companies on projects incorporating multimedia and emerging technologies. In 1996 Kim joined the faculty in the Biomedical Communications Program. Kim particularly enjoys coordinating and producing large projects involving interactive multimedia, online learning, video and print publication for a variety of audiences including students, researchers, physicians and patients. She served as the Educational Coordinator for the Southwestern Program for Genomic Applications at UT Southwestern and currently assists the Southwestern School of Health Professionals with online learning efforts. Kim is also the Director of Assessment for Convergence, an UT Southwestern initiative for interprofessional education and communication. She has presented numerous times in the Effective Teachers Series (ETS) lectures for faculty development and to the Postdoctoral Association (PDA) . In 2011, Professor Krumwiede was inducted into the Southwestern Academy of Teachers (SWAT), and awarded the title Distinguished Teaching Professor by the Provost, in recognition of her “excellence as an educator and ability to contribute to excellent education overall at UT Southwestern.” |
