Introduction to the Hendrixson Laboratory
We are a basic science research laboratory in the Department of Microbiology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. A major initiative of our research program is analyzing and understanding various aspects of the biology of Campylobacter jejuni, a bacterium that is a major worldwide cause of diarrheal disease in humans. In addition, C. jejuni is a harmless, commensal organism of the intestines of many wild and agriculturally-important animals. Our laboratory analyzes various aspects of the biology of C. jejuni, including its genetic mechanisms, colonization ability, virulence potential, and other important processes and traits.
