Access Policy and Security (Library)
The Library’s official access policy states:
"Library resources are selected to support the educational, scientific, and clinical missions of the campus. Use of Library resources is restricted to activities related to these missions."
This policy is cited prominently in many places in the library. It applies to UT Southwestern students, faculty, and staff, and affiliated hospitals and institutions, as well as to clients who have no official affiliation.
Authorized clients are welcome to use the Library and its rich collection of online and print resources, media, models, computers, copiers, carrels, and study rooms within the parameters of the Library Use and Conduct Policy. The Library is open for 101 hours a week, many of which are during evenings and on weekends. The safety of our clients during these times is of particular concern in a building that is open and unsecured. For that reason, the UT Southwestern campus police routinely patrol the Library.
All UT Southwestern affiliates should abide by the campus ID badge policy and wear it where it can be seen. Non-affiliates may be asked by the campus police for identification and their purpose in the Library.
