Collection Recommendations: Books & Journals

The Library welcomes recommendations in support of clinical care, research, and educational programs at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas.

Book Recommendations

Contact Jon Crossno, collection development librarian, at 214-648-2562 or complete the online Suggest a Book/Journal Form.

All book requests are evaluated and prioritized based on the following criteria:

  • Relevance of the requested material to the mission of UT Southwestern
  • Cost & availability of the requested material
  • Current state of the Library's collection budget
  • Status of the person who made the recommendation

Journal Recommendations

Contact Mori Lou Higa, manager, Library Collection Development, at 214-648-2989 or complete the online Suggest a Book/Journal Form.

Since journal subscriptions generally require a long-term fiscal commitment, careful consideration will be given to the following factors before new subscriptions are added:

  • Relevance to UT Southwestern programs and justification of need
  • Journal cost and number of potential users
  • Journal quality
  • Availability of electronic full text [Note: New subscriptions are entered as online only whenever possible.]
  • Library's collection budget
  • Site license terms
  • Shared purchasing opportunities
  • Collection balance, gaps, uniqueness

If you do not find what you need, please call 214.648.2001, press "0" to reach the Information Desk, or view other contact methods under the Ask a Librarian section on this page.
