Find it! @ Library - UT Southwestern FAQ

What is "Find it! @ Library - UT Southwestern"?

"Find it! @ Library - UT Southwestern" is a way for you to access or receive articles directly from the databases you search. This saves time by either linking directly to the full text of an article, or providing other options for obtaining it.

When you search selected Library resources for journal articles, you will see the

FindIt2

Why is electronic full text not always available?

If Find it! does not provide a link to the full text, it may be because:

  • The Library does not subscribe to that journal
  • The article is older than 1995 and the publisher does not have it online
  • The journal has not been activated in the service
  • The citation contains incorrect or incomplete information

Take advantage of the other links provided on the Find it! page, including:

  • Search Electronic Journals list, especially for newer articles
  • Search Library Catalog, especially for older articles
  • Request through Interlibrary Loan if the Library does not own the item

Please notify us of problems with links by selecting the "Report Broken Link" button.

I'm using Ovid or PubMed from off-campus. I cannot access the full text, even when a link appears on the "Find it! @ Library - UT Southwestern" Page. Why?

Most of our ejournals are only available from computers at the UT Southwestern Medical Center, University Hospital - Zale Lipshy, and University Hospital - St. Paul. UT Southwestern faculty, staff, and students are authorized to use Library resources from remote, non-campus locations such as homes or offices using Virtual Private Networking Software (VPN).

While those affiliated with UT Southwestern Medical Center may use Ovid or PubMed remotely, it is recommended that you also use VPN when searching from off-campus so that you can gain access to full text.
