Welcome to the Protein Identification Service in Protein Chemistry Technology Center at the University of Texas-Southwestern Medical Center!

Our office is located in ND6.202, North Campus. We opened in June 2002 and beginning September 3, 2002, we will go to an exclusive online registration and result retrieval system.

You may be curious to know how we can help in the identification of your proteins. When we receive your sample in gel, the bands of interests will be cut and proteins will be in-gel digested by modified porcine trypsin. The peptide extracts will be injected into a nano-HPLC/MS/MS system. Mass spectrometric data will be searched against NCBI-nr protein sequence databases. During the whole process, our office takes the highest precautions to limit contamination and increase the chances of a positive yield.
