Welcome to the McCulley Lab

Dr. James P. McCulley M.D., F.A.C.S. FRCOphth (UK) currently holds The David Bruton, Jr. Chair in Ophthalmology, and is Professor and Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology at UT Southwestern. His academic pursuits include research in diseases of the ocular surface; dry eye syndrome; corneal transplantation; cataract; and refractive surgery. In addition, he provides training to students and post-doctoral fellows in a collaborative, interdisciplinary research environment. Dr. McCulley's clinical outcomes research is on cataract, IOL, and keratorefractive procedures, as well as multiple pharmaceutical trials. The primary laboratory focus of his research includes studying dry eye, chronic blepharitis and its effects on the tear film lipid layer (TFLL). His lab work involves research in basic, clinical and epidemiological aspects of disease centering on:
