Protein phosphatases and cell signaling

This is the home page for the laboratory of Dr. Marc Mumby in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. The lab is located in the T. Boone Pickens Biomedical Building (ND building) on the north campus of UT Southwestern.

Our research interests focus on understanding the actions of protein phosphatases in cellular signaling pathways. Our recent efforts have concentrated on a member of the serine/threonine phosphatase family termed PP2A. This phosphatase is a critical component of multiple signaling pathways and a tumor suppressor. Current projects utilize a combination of biochemistry, molecular biology, and cell biology to determine how PP2A is targeted to signaling pathways that regulate DNA replication, metabolic signaling, and tumor formation.
